The book addresses the conventional topics: groups, rings, fields, and linear algebra, with symmetry as a unifying theme. Every time I’ve taught the course (undergraduate), I’ve been saddled with someone else’s choice of text. And they’ve generally been isomorphic (the same) and not particularly inspiring.
